Vehicle standards consultation

To ensure the vehicle standards are kept up to date, the Department of Transport and Main Roads regularly reviews the policies, procedures and legislation that govern the vehicle standards, including the technical requirements for vehicle inspections and modifications, and may make changes if needed.

When considering most changes, the department will seek comments and feedback from industry and the general public. During this process, information will be posted on this page along with instructions on how you can provide your input.

Please Note: Not all changes will be subject to a consultation period by the Department of Transport and Main Roads. For changes to nationally consistent policies, procedures or legislation, consultation may be carried out by the national organisation, for example the National Transport Commission, who is making the change. Where possible, the department will include information on this page about national consultation processes.

Review of Vehicle Standards Bulletin 5: Manufacture and Installation of Seats
