In roads to defence: a Queensland Anzac Centenary publication
As part of the Queensland Government’s Anzac Centenary 2014-2018 commemorations, the Department of Transport and Main Roads has produced a special publication called In roads to defence.
In roads to defence acknowledges the role played by transportation in Queensland’s defence history during the First and Second World War, with stories and images sourced from the department’s Library Services and Communication Services Units.
Read In roads to defence (PDF, 1.55 MB) for stories about the construction of Anzac Memorial Avenue, the role of Queensland ports including the attack on the Australian Hospital Ship Centaur (1943), the role of Queensland engineers such as Lieutenant-Colonel William James Reinhold and more.
